As a Church of England school, Mount Pleasant is inspected under the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS). This framework looks at how well schools enable pupils and adults to flourish within the context of a theologically rooted Christian vision.

SIAMS inspections normally take place about every five years. Each inspection focuses on one central question:

“How effective is the school’s distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?”

This is explored through a series of inspection questions, which consider:

• How the school’s Christian vision enables pupils and adults to flourish

• How the curriculum reflects the school’s Christian vision

• How collective worship enables pupils and adults to flourish spiritually

• How the vision creates a culture where all are treated well

• How the vision creates a culture of justice and responsibility

• Whether the Religious Education curriculum is effective (with reference to the Church of England’s Statement of Entitlement)

• (For Voluntary Aided and certain other schools) The quality of Religious Education in line with denominational requirements

The purpose of a SIAMS inspection is not only accountability but also improvement. It highlights how a school’s Christian vision makes a real difference to the daily lives, learning and development of everyone in the community.
